when you’ve been doing something a certain way for a while and things are not the same anymore, it gets hard knowing what else to do. for me that would be my career struggles and then motherhood.
I've missed writing this newsletter but also I think about it and go “but i’ve got nothing else to say”. This year, I had told myself I won’t write to fulfill the task of writing weekly but I’d write when I've got something valuable to share.
Away from not being able to land a community role for a year now, motherhood (i have a 9-month-old cutie) has also made it difficult to catch up with learning & research as often as I would like, but it’s getting better now.
Since the last time I wrote here;
I got tired of hanging around for a community role and explored another strength of mine which is Content Marketing. Got a contract job to manage content for a cosmetic software brand and it was a blissful experience- first, I got to wear a different hat and secondly, I dabbled into the world of cosmetics for the first time.
I was reached by my former employer to coordinate an event for a community he belongs to. I handled registration, pre-event communications, event moderation, and post-event communications. Of course, totally enjoyed it (as long as i didn’t have to speak 😂)
I've been on and off social media- overthinking, ghosting, reappearing, second-guessing, and ghosting again. But I’m back for now and I’m doing the best that I can.
My contract with the cosmetic brand is over and since I’m off a job for now, I decided to make ‘showing up’ my next job until the one that pays comes along.
Apart from just showing up for myself, I want to show up for you here as well in the best way possible- I want to serve you better and provide value in any little way. I haven’t fully figured out how to do that but I believe I would as I get going.
Thank you for sticking around, and thank you for your support. I don't take it for granted!
Reply to this mail or drop a comment on ways you’d love to be served better and I’ll see how to make that happen. I’ll be expecting your feedback and depending on how it goes, a poll will come up by my next letter.
