Hi hi... What's been up?
It’s the festive season- the one with a lot of gift guides and gratitude notes.
I indulge with the gift guides but I think nothing beats this…
Now, over to gratitude… and community…
No matter the size of your community, you can express gratitude to your members.
Showing appreciation can have a positive impact on the general and personal well-being of any community. When you express gratitude and recognize the efforts of community members, you foster a positive space where they feel valued and recognized. In turn, this will lead to continued participation and support for the community.
Appreciation should be shown to all members, regardless of their level of engagement.
Here are some ways to show appreciation to your community members:
Thank members personally: A simple "thank you" can go a long way. Take the time to personally thank people for their contributions, whether it's through a direct message, a comment on their post, or a mention in the community’s newsletter.
Celebrate with them: Get members' birth dates as part of your community data and make it a culture to celebrate with them on these days. Where possible, send a customized mail or digital gift like wallpaper, free resources, etc.
One of the things I proposed for a community of practice I manage was to follow our community members on socials. That way we get to see their content, achievements, and the likes and we get to celebrate with them.
Recognize members publicly: Consider recognizing community members who have made significant contributions or gone above and beyond in their support of the community. This could be through a public post or announcement, or a special badge.
Offer support: If someone in your community is going through a difficult time, offer your support and assistance. This could involve lending a listening ear, providing practical help, or simply being there for them.
Offer rewards or incentives: Depending on the nature of your community, you may be able to offer rewards or incentives for exceptional contributions. This could be something as simple as a virtual badge, or something more tangible like a discount or special access to community events.
Something I proposed as well for a community of practice was to identify leaders among the community and have them put their thoughts together into written form and we get to share it on our social platform as community content.
In all that you do, be sincere and consistent in your efforts to show appreciation. By regularly expressing gratitude and recognizing the contributions of community members, you encourage participation and engagement.
Indescribable feeling
