You’re not failing...
Sometimes I sit back and wonder if this work I’m doing as a community manager even matters. Because truthfully, so much of the work we do doesn’t come with instant proof. And I know I am not alone.
We are constantly looking for ways to communicate our value because there’s rarely a big moment that shows the exact impact we’ve made, and so much of what we do lives in places we can’t easily measure.
Here’s what I’ve come to realise and maybe you have too: Community work is mostly invisible.
It lives in those thoughtful messages that help someone feel seen, in the moment when someone who has been away shows up again, in the sense of safety when people know they won’t be judged in your space.
Sometimes it’s the story someone shares a month later, the confidence someone finds, and sometimes, it’s just the fact that the space still exists.
That is impact!
So if you’ve been doubting yourself lately, thinking you’re not doing enough, or that your community isn’t “growing fast enough”, take a breath.
A lot of your impact grows in people’s hearts, not in dashboards or pie charts. Yeah, we still have to do these things to communicate our value and get paid, but we know where the impact really lies.
So no, you’re not failing. Keep showing up with love and intention.
Rooting for you always!
